The Australian W3C Office is hosted by CSIRO. CSIRO is Australia's pre-eminent research and development organisation renowned for its scientific excellence and its extensive educational and industrial network. CSIRO enjoys a reputation for independence and objectivity throughout Australia, which it protects vigorously.

CSIRO delivers public good and commercial research outcomes for industry, society and the environment as well as collaborating with other research organisations in Australia and internationally.

The W3C Office is located in the CSIRO ICT Centre. The ICT Centre is the hub for ICT research in CSIRO, with a mission to deliver the enabling power of ICT across many industries. To this end, the ICT Centre works across the breadth of CSIRO to deliver the power of ICT. CSIRO offers the advantage of being able to innovate in ICT and apply the results for the benefit of Australia, based on our understanding of the needs and problems of the many industries we work with.
